AAs and NHPIs face persistent health disparities due to unequal access to quality healthcare services. Healthcare systems were not designed around our unique health needs, and as such, many healthcare providers lack a comprehensive understanding of how to adequately serve our communities. Disaggregated data has also revealed that various ethnic groups experience disproportionately high uninsured rates, including Samoans, Koreans, and Vietnamese.
We also struggle with accessing mental healthcare; AANHPIs have the lowest utilization rates for mental healthcare among all populations.
NCAPA recommends the following policy solutions to ensure that all AAs and NHPIs can live healthy lives.
